Chapel Hill is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chapel Hill follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I've been coming to M Tokyo in Chapel Hill for the past two years, and it has always been one of my favorite sushi restaurants. Unfortunately, my experience today was extremely disappointing. We ordered two all-you-can-eat menus, but the food tasted noticeably different from what I remembered. The sushi simply wasn't as fresh or as flavorful as it used to be. On top of that, the service was terrible. What frustrated me the most was being charged for the sushi we left on the plate because we didn't like it. I understand charging customers for excessive food waste, but should I really be forced to eat sushi that I genuinely don't enjoy just to avoid extra charges? To make matters worse, the restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity regardless of the quality of the service. Good service should be rewarded, but customers shouldn't be required to pay a mandatory tip after such a poor experience. Sadly, this visit completely changed my opinion of a place I used to love. I won't be coming back, and I can't recommend it to others anymore.

I now understand that if a restaurant is known for a specialty item then there is a good chance that everything else is simply an add-on. That was my experience at Mr. Tokyo. While there were a variety of sushi items, the other items seemed to be just there to have them on the menu. The vegetables were not fresh and received no love at all. The only difference between a large and small order seems to be the amount of rice they can shove into the carton. While there were a service was fast, there was no love or care displayed in the preparation of the food. Do note that for dine-in options, there is a 90-minute seating option that begins the moment you are seated. This signage is very clear. Iβve been curious about this restaurant for a while. Suffice it to say, I am not interested in returning.

Incredible nigiri and hand rolls. Omg. So freaking good. I will be going back today for the lunch menu. For my husband and I for an all you can eat dinner was about $26/person I believe. Just water, and the all you can eat.

Put up big numbers. Will be back. Service was a bit slow but we also got 80+ pieces each so I can't put any blame on them. Vibes inside were nice and there's some decent decor.

Mr Tokyo is not my favorite choice for all you can eat sushi, but the price is unbeatable and there are a couple of gems on the menu. I specifically really like the jalapeno yellowtail dish, and I'm a huge fan of the fried noodles. The fish isn't the best quality, it tastes fine but I've definitely had higher quality sushi. But the rolls aren't bad and I can eat a lot.
